There are Easy Setups in FCP for IMX, so have a try and see. IMX 3 different data rates, so if you may need to match your system to the rate of your clips.
I work on a 4core with 4GBs ram off an internal software raid in FCP and IMX 50 (the highest data rate) works great. Most of our production company is Avid however and we use IMX 50 as our SD codec and it imports easily into our MCs (quicktime or otherwise.)
