FCP 5 creating duplicate project files

Hi I am capturing media onto an external hard drive on a MAC G5, OSTiger 10.4) with FCP5 and FCP is creating duplicate project files- project files with duplicate names- Does anyone know why and how it can be prevented?

Where is that happening? If you're seeing it in the Trash, that's just Autosave kicking in.

Hi duplicates are in the FCP project folder on the HD (Mac's internal drive) where I save my FCP projects ..THX

Is the program crashing? Are they named exactly the same, or are they different in any way? If so, what is the difference?
