This has got to be one of the most reflective and elegant opening movie sells for an FCP filter I've encountered--

So ARE the others. Plural... www.shanerosseditor.com Listen to THE EDIT BAY Podcast on iTunes [itunes.apple.com]
Agreed, it's a nice & elegant sell.
I'm a big fan of Martin Baker's "teaser trailer"(!) for Loader: [www.digital-heaven.co.uk] Simple, brilliant, effective ... Fun. Best, -- R. -- At last, versatile, extensible & robust User Preferences for FCP! [www.EditGroove.com]
Joe:
As long as you don't start typing "loose" when you mean "lose". That drives me insane. There is an epidemic people "loosing" things all over the web and even in magazines and books. It is the "impactful" debacle all over again. As you know, the powerful business leaders of the U.S. decided in the 80's that "impactful" was a real word and by applying it in speeches and in press conferences all over the world, they rammed this non-word into the popular lexicon. It is the ultimate corporate weenie term and is recognized as a real word when I contend that is merely a bastardization of the word impact. Dan
Hyah hyah hyah, Dan... (Evil laugh)
> the powerful business leaders of the U.S. decided in the 80's Who's 80? 80's what? Sorry, couldn't resist. If you want to be picky with grammar and spelling, you should write "'80s" instead of "80's"! The apostrophe is used for omissions. There's no omission between "80" and the plural "s" when used to describe a decade. The apostrophe goes before "8" because the number "19" have been omitted. "Impactful" is a word that gets thrown at me on a regular basis. "Make the cuts more impactful." www.derekmok.com
> Hate to out pendant you, but it's 'whose 80s.' Not who's.
No, it's not. I was writing "Who's 80?" as a joke -- "Who is 80?". By writing "80's", Dan was grammatically implying that "80" was a person, and "80's" would be a possessive. "Genitive" case in German or Latin. If one were to write "80" as a plural noun -- for example, if there were an "eighty-dollar bill" -- then it would also be "Do you have two $80s for eight $20s?" www.derekmok.com
Just in case this grammar tributary thread thread gets closed down, I feel compelled to quickly put forward a competition for the most loathsome and overused phrases and/or words.
My choices: "challenge/challenging" (i.e.) The neutron bomb that has just been exploded presents us with an unique challenge" or "the physically challenged" (for disabled or crippled.) and "going forwards" (when used in the sense of "looking to the future" or "in future" a CNBC fave. Maybe I should start my own "hate board." Harry. Harry Bromley-Davenport.
