Timecode Capture/Sync Issue

Hey Everyone,

Sort of a weird problem here and wondering if anyone else has come across this.

We have our footage on DVCPRO50 tapes with four channels of audio. A few months ago we captured the footage with the four channels of audio mixed into two stereo tracks. Recently, we decided that we wanted all four tracks to be mono and discrete.

We rented an AJ-SD93 deck and planned on only capturing the audio, since we already had the video from the initial round of capturing. We set our capture presets to capture "First 2 Channels" and "Second 2 Channels". In the Clip Settings, we turned off video because we only needed the audio. With those settings, we captured the audio in two passes with the two different presets using Capture Now.

Once the tapes were captured, we discovered that the new audio clips has different timecode, not only from each other, but from the original clips that were captured with video. Between the 15 tapes we captured, some varied by 1 frame, others by 1 second, and others not at all. Very weird, right?

I went back and recaptured using the new audio presets ("First 2 Channels," "Second 2 Channels"winking smiley but turned the video back on in the Clip Settings. I recaptured a test clip using Capture Now and the timecode synched back up between the clips and with the original clip.

Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know why this could be?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!
