What is the best method for recording "what you hear" coming through your speakers on the MAC. For pcs, there is Roxio media creator which works great. Roxio gives the option of most formats. I have been doing this and then moving the files over to the Mac for use in Final Cut. Clearly there is a faster way.

Ambrosia Wiretap (now called Wiretap Anywhere, I think). I only ever use it to record to AIFF and even the free version seems to do that just fine. I don't know if the current trial version has all the functions because I first downloaded it four or five years ago, but my current free version works just fine; there's just a 15-second delay when launching the application.
