exporting Audio AIFF's in FCP with handles?Posted by rpearlster
Hi,
My audio editor would like us to export AIFF files with handles of all our FCP tracks for a sequence as AIFF files. He would also like these to include handles for dialogue clips. Is there a way to do this? I was under the impression that FCP exports the entire track and not the indivudual clips and with no handles. 2 questions: Is there a way to export multiple AIFF tracks at one time as individual tracks? (the way you can when exporting as OMF?). Is there a way to add handles to the AIFF files? He may be asking for OMF files and not mentioning that but I'm not sure. Thanks, Rachel
You can't have those handles without adding them by hand. Media Manager might be able to make copies of those files with handles (trimming out unused portions), but it won't add handles to the clips in the timeline.
You should be exporting an OMF. Individual AIFF tracks are a good backup, but nothing else does the job of that OMF. www.derekmok.com
OMFs basically contain uncompressed audio, in a way, similar to AIFF/WAVs, but the audio is in sync, AND you get handles.
Here's a FAQ entry on exporting OMFs: [www.lafcpug.org] www.strypesinpost.com
