I'm about to edit a program for a client who didn't totally plan ahead and shot a few different types of formats for the same program. Three different cameras, three different frame sizes.

I now have a project with an equal amount of 1080 and 720 HD footage, with some good ol' SD as well. I'm thinking of making the project 720. My reasoning being, I can resize the 1080, and even zoom in a bit to the 1080 if needed. With the SD, I plan on doing some split screen type stuff.

What do you think? How would you approach something like this?

What is the final output? I won't work in 720 if I'm going out to 1080.

Is this for broadcast? The channel's broadcast eval can limit your options severely.

What does your broadcaster say? What will they accept? Some channels are alright with 720, some aren't.

If they demand 1080, you've probably got a Terenex session ahead of you. Get everything into the same format before editing, ideally.

Best to work this out ahead of time. I have seen what happens when you don't. It ain't pretty.
