I'm Looking for Realistic animated 3D Interior/exterior Backgrounds.

I'm looking for Realistic animated 3D interior/exterior Backgrounds

to use for green screen footage like they've used in movies

Lord Of The Rings, Sin City, 300 & etc.

They need to look like something out of the ordinary.

They can still images or movie files.

Is there anyone that creates these backgrounds?

Note: I'm not looking for "Stock Footage".

...and they ain't cheap.

When life gives you dilemmas...make dilemmanade.

But at the same time, it's not technically challenging, either. Many digital matte painters I know (by reputation) don't use any tools more complicated than Photoshop or Painter.

So for this you want somebody who's artistically talented, not someone who's technically skilled.

You also want to look somewhere where those people are likely to hang out ? not on a message board for editors. Different set of skills.

You haven't really specified what sort of images you are looking for. Cityscapes? Rooms? Futuristic? Urban?

Search on variations of "virtual sets" and you may find something close or maybe a lead.

Here is one site where you can buy prefab virtual sets with both still images or they can provide
the 3D source files if you want to use them for animation.

I have looked for this kind of material before. Most of it is pretty cheesy, but then it's cheap compared to hiring a matte painter.

You can always do you own compositing from photos as well.
Lots of matte painters these days are sourcing photos in their compositions.
Check out the usual stock photo source like iStockphoto. You can get lots of photos for
cheap and then comp up your own custom environments.
