I'm working on a small project (less than 2min long) while rendering fcp froze up. I had to do a hard shut down. When I went back to open the project, I get "Unable to open project file".
Thank you for your suggestions.

Probably a project file corruption. Go to your autosave vault, duplicate the last autosave project, rename it and launch it.
