STUDIO PRO won't install

Hi
I had a problem with DVD SP not opening. So, on advice from Apple, I upgraded to Snow Leopard, and purchased the latest Final Cut Studio upgrade. I installed both upgrades.
But, DVD SP still would not open. So I uninstalled DVD SP. Then I reinstalled the version I had before upgrading. But the old version will not install. The installation windows say that installation was a a success. But there application is nowhere on my computer and hard drive space is not reduced. I cannot upgrade the old version if I cannot reinstall it.
Any ideas?

Did you do a clean install of Snow Leopard?
