Smooth transition

I am using a Cross Zoom and Glow effect on a transition but I can't get a clean/smooth result.
I start 4 or 6 fr. before the cut, and 4 or 6 after: From 0% to 100% and 100% to 0%
The problem is between the last frame where the FX are applied and the 1 st frame w/o FX. The transition to "regular" looking footage is jumpy in the sense where it is very noticeable that the FX stopped.
I opened the FX in the Viewer and zoomed in. I changed the points to "smooth" and tried to really smoothed the out point, but still... no great result...

What format are you working in? Are you looking at the rendered output on a video monitor?

you could also try key framing a gaussian blur in the cross dissolve, as well as key framing the whites and mids high up to the flashpoint . .
