HD help

Hi,

I'm an editor in Dallas and I've been working for almost 30 years but I'm kind of newbie to HD. I have a large job coming up in 10 days and I am wanting a better understanding of what I'm dealing with here. The commercial was shot on film and I just gave the producer my specs which were HDCam 24p. Now I'm wondering though would it be better to work in 23.98 or 29.97, in p or i? I just need a deeper understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of working in different frame rates formats. I know it's kind of a broad question but can anyone help me sort this our or point me in the direction of an extremely detailed and comprehensive guide to understanding HD and it's formats. Thanks.

One of the best places to start is the Apple Final Cut Studio documentation...

Final Cut Pro 7: User Manual

Final Cut Pro 7: Professional Formats and Workflows

Final Cut Studio: Workflows

And, you made be interested in this, as well:

Cinema Tools 4.5: User Manual

That should keep your eyes busy for a few hours...
