DVD camcorder and Video_TS

First of all, "I know!". Why the hell would I use a DVD camcorder to tape?
Well I didn't have a choice... Let's leave it at that.

Now, I am stuck with Video_TS folders, and I don't know what to do to bring them in FCP.
What I found were softwares I have to purchase or Handbrake which is exporting a lame mpg4 file as I type...
Is my HD footage lost or unusable?

Have you by any chance upgraded to Snow Leopard?

Follow this link to see how to reinstall the Mpeg2 component:

(Roll over the "Snow Leopard and MPEG-2 Playback Component" heading.)

Hope this helps....

Unless I lost my mind recently... winking smiley

There are two ways to get the QT component you need: by buying it separately from Apple, or getting it with Final Cut Studio. I believe this comes with Final Cut Studio 2 and 2009, but I am not sure about earlier versions. The actual file related to this is installed as

/System/Library/QuickTime/QuickTimeMPEG2.component

As already mentioned above, directions for re-installing this component from your FCS Install DVD is given on the squared5.com website.

So, if you have FCP 6 or FCP 7 (and maybe other versions?), you should have this component already installed. There is no need to have bought it...
