DV and Handycam footage. Which settings?

I have footage coming from a miniDV camcorder.
And footage coming from a Sony Handycam DVD.
I want to create DVDs (so no broadcast).

My goal of course is to have the best quality possible.

1) My problems start with the miniDV footage:
I choose as capture settings: DV NTSC 48khz
The sequence settings defaults to DV NTSC_720 480 NTSC DV (3:2). Is this a good setting?

What about Apple ProRes 422 NTSC?

2)Handycam footage
I used MPEG Streamclip to "rip" the Handycam DVDs and I have to chose between ProRes 422 NTSC and Apple DV/DVC Pro

3) In FCP
Frame size....
When I Cmd-0 to get the sequence settings, I have a choice between a lot of Frame Size options. FCP defaults to NTSC DV (3:2). Is this right?

4) and what about "quicktime video settings" in the sequence settings?

Who said editing was just about putting shots together? No one, ah... Ok.

The mystery is what the Sony Handycam DVD shoots to. Is it a video DVD? If so, the footage was compressed to mpeg2, so you need to convert that into an editable format like ProRes or DV. It largely depends on how much of each do you have. If they are about equal, I would convert the DVD footage into ProRes, capture the DV footage as DV and edit in a ProRes timeline.
