Weird?

I have pal footage from a client to incorporate into my video. it was given to me as an avi file.
I converted it to ntsc with G nattresses software (my project is NTSC) .
I don't know if any of that matters but wanted it to be understood.

After conversion I exported to as a quicktime file.
That was done on my macbook pro (2.16 intel core 2 duo )
I need the clip on my G4. when I transferred the file to the G4 it won't open?
I get a message "no default app specified to open document". and It does not give me
fcp as a choice or even quicktime.
Any recommendations on what I can do?

Change the suffix to .mov.

If you have a lot of files, you could use automator to add extensions as a batch operation. But you'll need to install the junecloud action.
