HELP!trouble with importing p2 footage off hard drive.
July 19, 2006 03:46PM
i filmed a music video with the panasonic 200 hd cam and stored my footage by dragging the p2 files onto an external hard drive. now when i try to import these files into final cut pro it says the selected path is not a p2 volume. i think the format of the footage has been altered because the icon is a blank paper with a lock in the bottom corner and the computer to which i used to transfer the files did not have final cut on it. doesn't anyone know how i can get this footage into final cut. HELP. Please. much appreciated fellow film makers.

there are some tutorials that explain how to do it properly somewhere there. I read them a few days ago.

There is a proper procedure.

There are two files for the P2 footage I recall. One of them basically is for knowing that the card switched from one card to another.

check it out.

good sight if you haven't been there.

Here is the tutorial. You must do exactly the way I describe it, or things won't import.

I recommend Shane's tutorial. Very helpful for folks new to P2.

Especially recommended is the part where the police come for Shane.
