audio panning

why can't I pan my audio. On my field tape audio was rec on ch 2. When I drop it to the timeline on A1 i can't pan my audio to playback on ch 1 it plays back on Ch 2. If i pan left or right it still plays back on ch2.. thx

Break the link between the two audio tracks (OPTION-L), delete the blank A1, then pan A2 to the center, or put a copy of A2 onto A1, doubled.
