Sequence showing many files as Offline, but not in the Browser?
January 04, 2011 09:25AM
An Oddity that began to pop up a couple of weeks ago, but seems to be getting worse...Clips still appear in Canvas and Viewer, but are designated as offline in the Project sequence window...Anyone else had or seen this problem?

Using FCS 6 on a G-5, 2.6 dual, AMD chips.

Thanks for any help.

Canvas? As in you can't view the clip in the timeline? It could be a project file corruption. Is it an independent clip or can you match frame back to the clip in the browser?

Hi Strypes,

The clips in question have the tell tale "Media Offline" screen in the clip's thumbnail in the timeline, but can viewed as if nothing is wrong in the Viewer...

And yes can match clip back to Browser where there is no indication of the clip being offline...No "Red Slash" thru related clips in Browser.

Also,

When the problem first occurred a few weeks back, I ran FCS Maintence Pack Corrupt Clip Finder with no corrupt clips found.

I'd copy everything in the Browser except the timelines to a brand-new project file. To preserve your timeline, export an XML and re-import into the new project. Then work the new project file and see if the problem recurs.

Trash your thumbnail and waveform cache files.

All the best,

What Tom said. It's just a refresh issue in the cache.
