HDV frame size is 1440 x 1080. When dropping into a Pro Res sequence, should the settings be 1920 x 1080 or 1440 x 1080 (LT)?

The sequence should be 1920x1080. ONly if you capture HDV as ProRes via firewire will they be 1440x1080.

If you set it at 1440x1080, you won't have to render as much. Not much of an issue if you are going out to sd or DVD. Titles may look softer if you're going out to full raster hd.

BUT...

if you are doing any grading or on-lining outside of FCP,
or working with graphics,
starting out as 190x1080 will save you a load of hurt on the other end.

Not really. Firstly, you can always export at full raster HD when you're done with your offline. Graphics may look a little soft if you created them in 1440x1080, but if you're down converting, it's not a big deal. Secondly, the adobe apps are able to work with/in 1440x1080. I'm not sure if nuke takes prores.
