Best way to Up-convert from MPEG-2 4:3 to Apple Pro Res 422 16:9 ( 1920-1080i)

I am working on a documentary and I am currently trying to find out how to Up-convert
4:3 footage in DVD NTSC quality to a film 23.976 Frames Per Second Apple Pro Res 1920-1080i quality.


My question is formost about the up-rezing process and if there are any programs that facilitate it, secondly if you know specifically how to help me with my issue please dont hesitate to explicate.

Why 1080i? 1080i60 or 1080i50? Why not 1080p?

DVD is kind of sucky. Decompress it to 10 bits Uncompressed SD and send it through Compressor.

Choose a ProRes setting in Compressor, set the frame size to 1920x1080 in the geometry tab then turn on frame controls in the frame controls tab and set resizing to best and wait. and really wait.
