The waveform cache files folder does not have read/write access

I tried to open one of my projects on FCP and I got the following info.

(The waveform cache files folder does not have read/write access.

Please select a new folder in the System Settings Dialog or correct the problem on disk. )

I went to the waveform folder and changed the 3 settings to all the access settings - "Read/Write."

I also tried to trash the preference files and restart. Did not work.

Then I deleted all the waveform cache. Still it does not open.

I tried to open just the FCP program and I have the same problem.

Can someone please help me.

You don't say what system version you're working under, what hardware, and where FCP is installed.

Normally this support file folder is installed on your boot drive, in the Final Cut Pro Documents folder, so I don't understand the permissions issue.

If however you've installed FCP to another drive, then select that drive icon and open "Get Info" [Command-I] to see if this checkbox at the very bottom of the info pane is checked:

"Ignore ownership on this drive."

I check this off for all drives.

If this doesn't work, select the boot drive icon, Get Info, and see if "Shared folder" is checked.

That's all I come up with, other than Repair Permissions, and of course, Trash Preferences.

i'll add that i never had that on my FCP Documents folders,
but in a similar case (a certain drive lost write access in a second user account) a re-start fixed the problem.
