coremelt question - veeyou

been trying to use the free veeyou plugin and haven't gotten it to work.
i can open the generator in the viewer and link it to a wav file and everything
looks fine. when i drag it to the timeline, though, i just get a straight line
across the frame, no moving waveform (i'm trying to use the oscilloscope
generator). also tried dragging generator to the timeline from the effects tab
and then double-clicking it into the viewer to do the linking. same thing.
looks fine in the viewer but no action in the timeline. it seems like a pretty
straightforward process. what am i leaving out? (the coremelt site seems to
have a lot of broken links. i tried there first.)
