Twixtor, how to make it as painless as possible?

I've been trying out twixtor for slow motion, I like the results but it is a real pain. As soon as I apply it to a clip and I attempt to tweak that clip, my computer slows to a crawl. Viewing the results is a long and arduous process as I have to render to see the results every time I adjust something. Add in color correction and to render a three minute piece, it's estimating 3 hours (about 50% of the project is twixtored clips).

Therefore, I wonder if you know of a better workflow using Twixter?

I was thinking about applying the speed changes with FCP built in speed adjustment, tweak it, get it exactly how I want. Then apply twixtor and copy the settings (key frames, speed amount), and finally remove the original FCP speed applied.

Thanks

Switch it to frame blending/duplication to get the timing for the "offline edit", then switch to optical flow/motion compensation, render it out, and re-import it, then color grade. That or do the FCP speed ramp to get the timing, remove it for grade, then twixtor the grade.
