WHAT CODEC DO YOU USE FOR AN HD PVR?!?!?

Please help me! An hd pvr is a person video recorder to record gameplay from an xbox 360 or a ps3. It uses h.264 video format but i need help finding that. every time i drag a clip in it look terrible like it was recorded from a terrible recording device. Thanks in advance

Does it "look terrible" when you play the H.264 in QuickTime Player? If so, it would mean your source video is crappy and there's nothing you can do about that.

But even more likely is that you're a) using a Sequence with settings that are different from the clip; b) watching the image on the Canvas, where you're not supposed to; and c) not rendering. All three contribute to poor image quality when monitoring.

Well i record it in hd 720p and sometimes even 1080 but the problem is for some reason everytime i drag it into final cut pro 7 it is terrible quality and when i render it, its the same way. on imovie its perfect but i dont know any of the render settings for the hd pvr, maybe thats why
