Copying vs drag and drop

Hey guys, I'm battling against project bloat in FCP 6. One thing that I noticed is that it is faster (and seems to result in smaller project file sizes) if i copy and paste from one project to another as opposed to dragging and dropping. Any idea why that could be the case? My guess is that copying to clipboard, copies directly to RAM (of course, if I have huge sequences, it crashes the machine).

i dont know why copy/paste would be faster, and safer, than drag n drop,
but in my experience it has been.

i've had FCP crash on me if the drag was too big.
that was a while back, but since then, i've restricted myself to copy/paste.
(well, i drag from the browser to the timeline, but i copy/paste going the other way)

i wondered if it had gotten better, but seems not.

interesting about the project file sizes, i hadn't noticed that.
(not saying it didn't happen, just that i didn't notice)

I noticed that when trying to track down the Multicam project bloat issue. There were different behaviours and results with copy/paste vs. Drag/drop. Never tracked it down other than it always had to do with Multicam projects, at least in my experience.

Yea, it's multicam and the project files are about double what you get on single cam shows.
