To render or not to render?

I have an hour sequence (1920x1080p, 29.97, pro res LT) where I used the 3 way color corrector on nearly every clip. The render bar for the entire project is green.

If my goal is to export a self contained quicktime Which would result in the faster export?

1. Ignore the green and export the quicktime

2. Render green in FCP, than export self contained quicktime

I usually go with option one and don't render the green bars in my timeline but this is a longer project and it is estimating 4 hours to export this way. However, if option 2 will take 2 hours to render the green bars and then another 2 to export the quicktime, I might as well continue with what I started.

Thank You

Always render first.

option 1 (export w/o render) is the fastest UNTILL

1. you have to make a correction & export again
2. you crash on export

option 2 (render then export) is longer, but much safer, IMO.

it's better to be rendering as you go, either via auto render, or just hitting render when you go to lunch, etc.
then your final render is much shorter.
