Scrolling text won't render

I made some text changes to a scrolling text, but I can't get it to render. I did notice that the segment is titled "Scrolling Text (4%)". Does this mean it is rendering, but very slowly?

tia.

It means you slow mo-ed the scrolling text generator. Don't do that.

select the clip,
Apple J to open the speed mod window,
click on "Remove Speed" lower left

as to not rendering, what is happening?
are you getting a warning window? or simply nothing happens?

if nothing, you probably need to check your render settings in the sequence menu.
make sure the desired colours are checked.

I tried removing speed, & got this message:

"Unable to complete command. A conflict occurred during a trim operation."

Cut and paste it to the end of the Sequence, and then remove the speed.

Here's the thing, though. If you were using Speed to slow down the scroll (at 4 per cent, it would look pretty awful), that means you're doing it wrong. To slow down the crawl, you make the clip longer in duration. (Taking longer time to travel the same distance between keyframes) You don't use the Speed feature.

I hadn't set the speed that I was aware of. I was just using whatever pre-set speed scrolling text was set at. I'll try the cut & paste, & then adjust the length as needed. Thanks!

FYI...

I tried cutting & pasting the clip, removed the speed, & it still wouldn't render. I then copied all the text, & placed it in a new scrolling text clip. Still wouldn't render.

I usually use either the "Render All" or "Render Sequence" options. The I tried the "Render Only--Needs Render", & this time the scrolling text rendered.

I used the previous 2 options because that's how I was taught.

But, I've learned a lot from this thread. Thanks!

That's one of the default settings. Go to sequence>render selection and sequence>render all and make sure every one of those options are ticked. This should probably be in the FAQ, but I dunno. FCP is EOL-ed.

Are you using an FCP scrolling text generator or Boris Title Crawl? I have much better luck in Title Crawl, and I did effect a speed change on it as a last minute adjustment. Didn't look too bad, an occasional hiccup-- but this was a preliminary screening...

What I noticed however is that after a certain number of lines Title Crawl don't work. I dumped several pages of Word text into it (copy paste) and found I had to split a 1:30 crawl (film talk for "scrolling titles" which is why Boris calls it "Title Crawl"winking smiley into two segments and overlap them for continuing text motion. Again, not bad... try it.

I usually do title crawls in PS and AE. Very easy and fast.

Done those too! AE is the champ. But you know, I have to leave FCP, boot up AE...get into that whole mindset...different keyboard...ZZZ

Well, by the time you're done rendering, you'd be done in PS and AE. By the time you finish rendering credits for the entire series, you'd have wished you started doing it in PS.
