HELP: Reduce 1920x1080 & 1080x720 HD Videos to Smaller Sizes

Hi all,
I'm in a bind and thought I had this info somewhere but can't find it now.

I need to reduce a 1080x720 video to a smaller size, like apple movies 853x??????? but I don't know what that magic number is.

It's going to end up being an mpeg4 file like the apple movies, but i also want it to be as clean as those too.

Any ideas?

Do you know the missing number I am looking for so the 853x??? works?

Ideally, I'd love to have a list of all the HD sizes from small to large and the settings that work best for a clear image but yet keeping the video a smaller file size.
