Quality of Canon HV40-FCS2

If you own this cam please advise me. I do weddings and Sweetfifteens. I used full HDV30f, (good lighting conditions) captured as HDV, edited in FCS2 exported as AppleProRes and burned a 2hour video, but quality is not as good as I thought. I noticed that the captured HDV material didn't used more hard drive than my regular minidv (12-13G/hour). When exporting as AppleProRes then I got 104G for the 2hour video. (exporting the QTmovie as AppleProRes took 5 hours, about 12times more than regular minidv projects)
Maybe I understand the long time when working with HDV, but am I loosing quality capturing as HDV? (because of the space used I mean) I also know 2 hour video is a lot.
Should I tried to capture as AppleProRes somehow? (I tried, no success)
Any other ideas to get the best out of this little nice cam? Thanks!

This is how I captured(recommendation from someone who has the same cam and same problem capturing as ProRes:
Easy Setup: Format: HDV, 29.97fps, Audio&VideoSettings: SequencePreset: AppleIntermediateCodec1080i60, CapturePreset: HDV, DevicecontrolPreset: HDVFirewire
