.wav problem

Hi,

For some reason one of my .wav files won't import into fcp 7. I get a file error: Unknown File message. What is strange is that all of the other files from this same session went in OK--Just this one, which is about 770 MB won't. It is the largest one in the session. They were all recorded with a Zoom 4hn 48.0 KHz; 16 bit...

It plays fine in VLC, also.

I tried to bring it into "switch" and was able to output a .aiff file, but this also didn't import into fcp.

Any advice?

Transcoded the file in VLC...seemed to work

Usually wav files that cannot be imported into FCP are usually truncated. VLC plays back a lot of things, so I won't be surprised that it did in your case.

Wav from ProTools had me confuse at beginning, incompatible wav in FCP.
Open Terminal and change the attribue of file to make it compatible in FCP

type in terminal:

cd (drag folder to insert path)

xattr -d com.apple.FinderInfo */Volumes/...../...../Path to folder containing wav file.

and those wav will import in FCP, no need to transcode those in aiff.
With that you will keep timecode and metadata of Broadcast wav file

enjoy
