Effects for Text Question

Hi, newbie here.

I'd like to know if there is a light effect I can put on text in FCP. What I'm specifically looking for is a light effect sweeping from left to right across the text.

I have a Mac Pro OS 10.5.8, FCP 6.0.6, Photoshop 11.0, Adobe CS4 (After Effects 9.0).

I took an after effects class years ago but did not have the software at the time so never applied it. Have probably forgotten just about everything. A tutorial on how to do this effect would be great.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Anne

Light Sweep/Rays effects are pretty common - my favourite is using Trapcode Shine in AE (or FCP if you really have to!)

borisfx: [www.borisfx.com]

For tutorials search Google "Light Rays" or "Light Rays Text" and FCP or AE

I think this effect was in Motion from the get-go.
