HDV to mix with Alexa 4x4 - convert to what?

Hi, All.

We have a few shots of impossible-to-get-otherwise material that we need to use in a feature.
The feature was shot on Alexa at 4x4, which will be converted to DPX for grading (in Nucoda, i believe)

the film was shot at 24 and the HDV is at 25, so i need to convert it to some non-mpeg format so i can Conform it.
might as well convert it to something that will be ok for finishing.

whats the best for this?
i mean HDV only has so much in it anyway, so i don't think i need to convert to 4x4 for instance.
PreRes422?
ProresHQ?
Uncompressed?

(i've asked the grader, but he's today snowed under with another film right now)

thanks,
nick

ProRes or ProRes HQ. and conform the 25fps to 24 fps. Only issue is whether the 25 fps stuff is 50i. In that case, deinterlace and conform to 24p in Compressor.

Thanks, Gerard.

yes, it is interlaced. i'm thinking i might leave it that way and let them deal with it in the grade.
they've got pretty good tools for that, (i'll double check)
and i'd want to leave the choice about which may to go (blend vs smart) till later, maybe do it on a shot-by-shot basis.

cheers,
nick
