Go-Pro Drifts out of sync

Just finished a 2 hr video with a GoPro as a wide shot. With the Go-Pro .mp4 files in sync in the timeline, the audio drifts out of sync by the end of each file by about 20 frames. Since I only needed short bits of the wide shot throughout, I didn't convert it to ProRes beforehand, just let the pieces render in the timeline. The 1080p Go-Pro was in a 720p ProRes HQ timeline with 720p footage from the other two cameras. All three are have audio set at 48hz, like the timeline.

Is converting all of the Go-Pro footage in Compressor before editing the only solution to this problem? Obviously it helps in the rendering, but will it solve the audio drift also?

Thanks!

It's one of the reasons why it's best to transcode first. It's not an editing codec, so it's dodgy to work with in Legacy FCP.

Picture drifting with h.264 is not unheard of. With ProRes, it's pretty much WYSIWYG. If you want to cut H.264, there is Premiere Pro and FCP X.
