Edited in 2048x1024 converted RED files, client wants 1080p delivery

Hello,

Let me preface this by saying that this is the very FIRST time I've ever worked with files shot on the red camera. I converted everything to the proper ProRes setting and the working media is 2048x1024.

However the client wants the finished sequences delievered in 1080p, 720p and 480p. They want it full HD. I have gone thru the manual and tried everything I know how to do...and I can't seem to find a workflow to allow me to do this and keep the aspect ratio. I just export directly from the sequence but it comes up looking squeezed. I'm not given the option to "preserve the aspect ratio" doing it like this.

If I do the output with the Quicktime conversion...and am given this option there, but again, client doesn't want things compressed. Can anyone help? Thanks.

storm666: how can you expect to preserve the 2048x1024 (2:1) aspect ratio after transforming to 1920x1080 (1.78:1)? You need to trim 114 pixels from each side of the 2048 width or else accept letterboxing (60 black pixels at top and bottom) in the 1920x1080.

one way would be to drag your RED sequence into an HD sequence.

probably the best approach would be to export your RED sequence to a full frame-size master,
and make your sub-masters from that.

compressor has all the controls you need to crop or pad your image.
