Glow Filter crashes FCP 7.0.3

So I kept getting these annoying system crashes whenever applying the native glow filter to a project. All other filters seem to be fine, just the glow filter. And the whole comp goes down, not just the FCP app.

Any ideas why the glow filter in particular might be causing this? I guess I could try just not using it or deleting it outright, but it lives in the motion.app and can only get to it by clicking "Show package contents". Not sure if that'll cause other problems.

Any recommendations guys? Maybe there's a 3rd party and (hopefully free) version of the glow filter I could try.
