where did the light go in the waveform monitor?

It's nice to have a simple question to ask. This clip has a hot spot recognized by the range check zebra.

(I'm glad about this because it shows that the ingest/transcode of C100 Canon Log footage to ProRes included its super whites. I peeked into an 8-bit uncompressed transcode of that and value 254 is there.) But the waveform monitor doesn't show the high luminance level of the bare lamp.

The scope is set to show luminance at all lines. It shows the mild glare on the brown wood at around 30%. Where did the 109% hot white go?

Perhaps the Yak is obstructing it!!

(I want to know, too!)

There are not a lot of samples in that highlight. Did you try turning up the waveform brightness (the little button under the word Layout in the upper left)?

VPiccin: Yes! That's an important little button/slider to know.
