FCP 7 unable to initialize video deck

Yesterday my FCP 7 successfully controlled the miniDV tape in a Canon Optura 100 (palmcorder) via FireWire. Clicking on Batch Capture, however, resulted in a black screen.

While troubleshooting that, I must have undone the correct Capture or other setting(s), because now my FCP 7 can NO LONGER see the "deck" (palmcorder).

Re-started FCP many times, turned palmcorder on/off, refreshed A/V devices. Nothing doing.

Tried variations of settings, getting nowhere. Any help appreciated in choosing correct settings for Capture and also Device Control, I would imagine.
