fcp nests question
August 11, 2015 09:00PM
never had to do this before so i'll ask. i have a project on a legacy system and it uses a lot of nesting. i've been working at 8bit as all the fx and nests overtaxed the system while editing. now the piece is done and i'd like to export at 10bit. the original files are mostly proreshq. i know i have to set my render options to 10bit but do i need to do that for all of the sequences in nests? in other words, if i have a nest in sequence A, do i need to open the nest and set that sequence (B) to 10bit? do i need to go into each nested nest and set them all to 10 bit (B, C, D...) or will setting the final sequence take care of all of the contained nests?

thanks and i hope this is clear,
BabaG

i'm pretty sure you'd have to change them all.

other aspects of the post process might require you to un-nest the whole lot as well.
i'm thinking EDL/XML for grading and OMF/AAF for sound.

thanks, nick.

the other parts of the process are not an issuer for this piece. sound is almost done but we do want a good 10bit output when done. i'll go in and set all the nests to 10bit.

thanks again,
