Audio File mystery - same but not synching

Can anybody think of a reason why an audio file syncs perfectly on one Mac, but not in the same project file on another Mac? Confused!

Shows the same time in FCP7, but longer in Quicktime.

on the other mac are you importing the file into FCP?
there's a long standing issue in FCP where you have to have a sequence preset selected that has the same frame rate as the file you're importing,
otherwise you get sync issues.
