Which upgrade versions are most stable

I just updated to Tiger 10.4.6 and FCS 5.1 and need to install the current updates. Since not all updates are stable, I was wondering which are the most stable? Also what is the best way to upgrade? Automated or manual? I seem to remember some discussion on this in the past. I know I can look in the FAQ, but wanted to get the newest opinions.
BTW, I like the inclusion of the "FAQ Ranch" sign, it makes it easier to figure out what it is rather than just the pony standing there. Not that I don't like the pony, but now newB's (and OlD's) can figure it out. Barry

You talking about upgrading your OS or FCP or both. Best way to upgrade your OS is by going to apple downloads and getting a Combo installer. 10.4.8 is fine with pro apps.

And the FAQ is up to date. Things don't change that fast.
