difference matting

Hello. I would like to place a white circle (created on a psd layer and imported) onto another white circle (psd layer imported) in FCP and have a new negative space created in the shape of the smaller circle. In other words, it would be the same effect as applying the "difference" setting on a layer as seen in Photoshop except in this case I would use two video tracks in FCP.

Like So...

How could I do this in FCP? Mattes?

Thank you.

Put the top layer into a 'Difference' composite mode: Modify - Composite - Difference.
