Radeon 9200 PCI card in old G4 w/2X AGP?

I have an old G4 (accelerated to 1.2 Ghz) with a "Sawtooth" motherboard and 2X AGP slot. I want to get a graphics card with more video memory to enable Quartz Extreme and Core Image in the operating system.

My question is: can I upgrade the graphics card to an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI graphics card ($129) rather than the ATIs Radeon 9800 2X/4X AGP card ($258)? Will using a PCI card and leaving the AGP slot unused cause problems or downgrade the performance to where it's a mute point?

Thanks,

-Russ

Are you sure that this is a MAC compatable card? I didn't see a PCI version for the MAC, only for Windows. Barry

Barry,

Yes, there is a currently shipping version for "Legacy" Macs. Here's the ATI link:

Thanks,
