Money to be made in microstock video?

Hi,

When digital cameras (and high speed internet) started taking off, microstock houses started selling stock photos for around $1 a piece. Everyone said they'd never last, but more and more amateur photogs signed on, and really great stuff started showing up on these sites -- things that we used to have to pay $100 - $500 for, now going for a buck or two.

Now I see more and more advertisements (specifically at Creative Cow, also here at times) for microstock video places. They pay 40% or so, and sell video for $20-$50 a clip.

I'm curious if anyone is selling (or buying) video from these places, and if it would be worth renting a camera (I'm assuming HDV) and hiring an actor or two to shoot some generic scenes for the corporate video producers of the world.

Anyone done this, or have any info on the profitability of such ventures?

Thanks,

Mike
