Canvas screen going white whenever cursor is paused?

Does anyone out there in the wide wide world of FCP have experience with this oddity?

Capslock is off, can't seem to figure out the cause. OK when playing, but it's a little eerie.

FCP 7.0.3 on an MBP 17" from early 2011, running OS 10.8.3

Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
Software OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)

Check View - Channels (or the third oval button above the image on the Viewer or Canvas). You might have it set to Alpha. Set it to RGB.

Shift W toggles those alpha modes.
