O.T. diappearing usb

Sorry this is off topic, but I was hoping someone may have run into this. My USB port on my G4, dual 1gig quicksilver suddenly stopped working. I used to be able to plug into my 17" LCD apple monitor and connect, then poof! (not literally) it no longer works. I have tried to plug directly into the back of the G4 still nothing. Could this be a os issue( hopefully) or could I have fried the port?

It happened to me once, and I did fry it. Heard the story that it is wise to shut down before removing a USB device..Hope you will be lucky..

Turn off the computer and leave it off for at least 10 minutes. Then fire it up and try again. No guarantees, but this sometimes fixes interface issues.

This happened to me - had the same computer a while back.

Turn off the computer & unplug it from the wall for 30 minutes (unplug all peripherals from USB / FW ports). This resets the bus fuses for USB & Firewire.
