Why does my 1080i footage dimensions say (in the info section) 640x540

My real confusion is trying to bring this footage into After Effects. I've got test footage from the VX 200 supposedly shot at 1080i - it imports into FC well enough but it doesn't import into After Effects without seemingly very small.

My assumption is that the composition should be set with the same pixel dimensions as FCP. 1280x1080. Is that correct? Then why the radical dimension differences? And why does the QT media say 640x540?

Thanks for any clues.

<<<QT media say 640x540? >>>

I know that one. QuickTime will tell you what the display size of the movie on your screen is, not the real movie size unless you have QT set to View, Actual Size.

If you do it right, QuickTime should display the movie about four feet wide.--way bigger than your screen.

I got a big screen, Koz.

So, if you know, why does the canvas area in FCP set to 1280x1080 fit, but in After Effects it's nowhere close?

I'll try the View Actual Size.

Thanks,

PS - Does anyone have a contact for a supreme guru with the HVX 200 and FCP?

I'm feeling in over my head for a shoot that starts this Sunday and would love to ask a few simple questions to ease my mind about work flow and final product.

<<<So, if you know>>>

I don't know that one. We just got bit with the QuickTime display problem once.
