Go Daddy?

Go Daddy?
August 14, 2007 06:22AM
Hey, when I tried getting into this site this a.m., I got to the post index, but when I clicked on a post, it sent me to go daddy.com, saying that the LA FCP User Forum was "parked" there.

I tried repeatedly, but could not get back to the forum.

Then I went into my e-mail and clicked on a link from a reply to a recent post of mine and got back in.

What gives? How to deal with this?

Not getting that here with Safari. What browser you using? There is a Go-daddy google ad popping up every so often. That would not affect the posts. Try clearing your browser cache and/or deleting cookies for the Cafe.

I use Firefox...and I have never had a page redirect me to a GO DADDY page. I see an ad on the left of this post I am writing, but it is justa banner ad.

Justa.

LOL, if LAFCPUG was hosted on a GoDaddy account with its millions of posts, I'd be very weary of it crashing the server any second now!

Prepare to be surprised. :-)

Registrant:
LAFCPUG

Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com)
Domain Name: LAFCPUG.COM

Domain servers in listed order:
PARK5.SECURESERVER.NET
PARK6.SECURESERVER.NET

That may just be the domain name registrar. I actually use GoDaddy for domain name purchasing as well, but host the server elsewhere. If LAFCPUG is on GoDaddy, they'd have to have some kind of special account... A) for the large bandwidth requirements and B) for backend support since GoDaddy.com doesn't allow access for site owners behind the public root (where the majority of shared hosts do allow that kind of access).

But all just assumptions on my end!

I used Go Daddy and gave them my real cell phone number and got
slammed with calls from people trying to sell me crap the next day
Not godaddy stuff

I had to call godaddy and threaten them to get it to stop-
so keep this in mind--Jay--

My wife uses GoDaddy for her web site and no problems. They are very responsive and solve problems quickly. Plus they are cheap.

It makes no sense to register domain names with anyone else unless they can match their price.

I pay more for hosting here at lafcpug because hermosawave is so damn good. Well worth the extra money. Plus I'm on a fast server.

That's who I registered www.LFHD.net thru...GODADDY. No problems whatsoever.

This is what I figured. I do the same thing... buy the domain names on GoDaddy and host else where. Peronally I like Bluehost.com for shared hosting. It actually works perfectly with Media Batch, everything from backend access, to default permission settings. Plus starting at 300 GB space isn't too shabby either!
