How did they edit that speed ramp shot in "300"?

Hey guys,

I recently watched the director's commentary for 300, and was particularly taken aback by one shot about 48 minutes into the film. It's the first battle scene, and the camera zooms in and out of the king fighting a bunch of enemies. There are some great speed ramps, but these are augmented by the use of shots from three cameras that are stitched together to make it seem like one seamless shot. He said that the three cameras were placed as close together as possible, on the same dolly, so that all cameras had the same effective angle of view. I slowed down the footage, but still couldn't notice any hiccup in the transitions from close to wide shot. Does anyone know how this was done?

On another note, Id like to emulate this effect using the HDV 200 and maybe some help from Twixtor or Shake. Any recommendations on what would work best?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think there was an article in Cinefex magazine about how this was done.

The transition between cameras is most likely done via pixel morphing so that the zoom between cameras is smooth. Since all three cameras are shooting the same action at the same time, it shouldn't be that difficult to match and zoom. Great concept and looks awesome.
