Luminance Shift Problem

Luminance Shift Problem

Hi All:

I am working on FCP 6 and a Blackmagic Multibridge pro, I am using the Blackmagick JPEG codec,
most of my dissolves seem to do a slight luminanche shift on the last frame, it is not a smooth transition, I also get s sudden luminance shift on picture where I have more than two tracks of audio, it seems the video changes depending what is on the audio tracks. I have flushed the caches and it helps a bit, but the problem keeps coming back, I can't get a smooth dissolve either with the opacity change nor the dissolve at the start and end of a clip.

Thanks a lot,

Alex Neuman

Are you seeing this in the canvas or an external monitor?
Are you seeing it on a rendered file?
Render out a quicktime, and look at it on an NTSC monitor. Do you still see the shift?

I have had this exact problem, it was due to the fact that my
luminance was over legal in the movie; and I fixed it (after many
hours of R and D) by adding either (as my memory is unclear about this)
brightness and contrast or a NTSC legal filter...

Anyhow, play around with this and see if it fixes the issue

Thanks a lot Mark,
I'll try that.

Also, try turning on 'full' in your render selections and then render the already 'fully rendered' problem area. I've noticed that in 6.0 it sometimes seems to think it can give you a complete view without rendering, but it's wrong. There are bumps unless it is rendered as 'full'.

Since you already rendered out a QT movie this might not be helpful in your case, but worth a try.
