FCP Studio export to FLV (Flash)Posted by jbrokaw13
Yes, H.264 will play in Flash. Cool, huh?
It is never good to compress to one codec and then to another so Adobe's support of H.264 inside Flash makes all Mac users wishes come true. Look up and download the beta player. Try it for yourself. Works great and so far I've seen no flames or sparks coming out of my Mac. Michael Horton -------------------
Here is an example sent to me by lafcpug web host Daniel Sofer of Hermosawave.net
He used QuickTime Player to "Export to iPhone", then embedded that movie in both an html page and the Flash Player. He did not convert the .m4v movie to flash video .flv, the Flash Player is playing the .m4v file. It's not a great clip but no matter. You need the Flash 9 Beta player to see this work. I'm getting some hassle on my end that they want it to be a flash video put on the internet and that it will take about a year for the world to convert to Flash Player 9.
Do you have any really good ammo that I can use as to why we should keep it at h.264? Do I need to preface this with the fact that we're not outputting HD?
No. Things take time and right now you are better off going with the flow. That means transcoding to Flash. Sucks, but its been this way for Mac users since Flash took over the world a few years ago. But this white flag Adobe is waving in support of h.264 is HUGE.

I recommend Episode Pro - outstanding swiss army knife of compression programs - does absolutely everything - including Windows Media without any add ons. You need Filp4Mac to work with Squeeze and - having used both for a while - Episode pro is the clear ease of use winner -- the pro version isn't cheep but if you do any batch compression - to Flash WMV even Real Media (does anyone use that any more?) it's well worth the investment
